I love roses, as in the actual flowers, but I’m less fussed about rose-fragranced products – I’m more of a jasmine girl, but I realise I’m in the minority as whenever I’m at an event and something is fragranced with rose, everyone seems to go a bit doolally. Having said that, I was checking out the new The Body Shop at Brent Cross last week and I came across the British Rose collection and I decided to help myself to a sample of hand cream.
I was surprised at how beautifully delicate the scent was; it’s light, pretty and floral, whereas my experience of rose scents is that they can be quite heady, sometimes a little too sweet and kind of soapy. The Body Shop British Rose is just stunning – one of those scents that you’ll want to keep sniffing, so I thought, how about suggesting it as an alternative for Valentine’s Day? I would much, much prefer to get a goody or two from this range than a bunch of roses that wilts away after a week – these products are going to last you a good while longer.
The Body Shop British Rose range contains a large selection of products for bath and body, as well as the aforementioned hand cream and a couple of skincare bits including a mask and a soap bar too. I was sent the Shower Gel, Petal Soft Bath Foam (SO excited to get stuck-in to that tonight!), the Body Butter and the Fresh Plumping Mask. There are some great gift sets in the range, crossing all budgets (such as the Rose Treats, £6 going right up to the Deluxe Collection for £35) but it’s also lovely to buy individual products for someone special and make your own gift with a personal touch.
