2017 has seen quite a few new launches from Smashbox already, even though it’s only March, so I thought I’d take a quick look at some of the newbies to give you an idea of what’s arrived. I can also safely say that there are some very exciting launches coming from the brand over the next few months – Smashbox really are the ones to watch at the moment.
Last year we saw the arrival of the mega Be Legendary lipstick collection – seriously, if you haven’t already, you need to check it out as my god there are some gorgeous shades – but there are more lipsticky joys coming our way, starting with the Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick. I have to be honest, I’m a little over matte lips at the mo as I find them a bit too high maintenance, but a matte lip is still very much on trend at the mo so if you’re looking for some new shades to try, Smashbox have 20 of them in a liquid lipstick formula. They’re £19 here – link. One of the main things Smashbox is known for is their range of primers, so it’s always exciting when they add to the collection, as they have done with the Radiance Primer, a somewhat terrifying looking gold gel that thankfully buffs into skin to create a warm glow – more on that soon, but if you can’t wait for the review, it’s £30 here – link.
Speaking of primers, the new Photo Finish Lip Primer is a fantastically well-developed product that comes in five shades, three of which are kind of skintone finishes (Light, Medium and Dark) but there’s also White for making colour pop and Smoke for creating the perfect base colour for smoky shades. I love these, I think they are so well executed and they provide multi-benefits too. They’re £18 each here – link. The Always On Gel Eyeliners are another of the new launches that have got me all excited as I love nothing more than applying a smooth and creamy eyeliner, especially if it’s in pencil format. These are available in 10 shades, most of which are smokey, neutral and dark, but there’s a white and a nude too. They are £18 here – link.
If you’ve heard anything about Smashbox lately then it’s likely to be all the excitement that surrounded the Ablaze shades in the Cover Shot Eye Palette, which really is a stunning collection of colours perfect for summer make-up. However, there are six other shade collections available and these are another great demonstration of how to do a really good and useful palette. Being a matte lid fiend, I zoned straight in on the Matte variant, but after looking deeper I ended up reaching mostly for Softlight, which is the most perfect set of shadows for moving away from a Wintery palette – these are gentle, hints of colour that’ll just add warmth and light to the eye – seriously, so, so pretty. These are also really well priced at £24 here – link. I’ll be sharing more thorough reviews on some of these launches soon.
