TheBalm are a really interesting brand as they’re really not that well known, yet those who do know them will rave about how fab they are – they’re a beauty fan’s best kept secret! If you are familiar with theBalm products, you’ll likely be a fan of their palettes and highlighters, but what you 100% need in your life is the Highlite ‘n’ Contour Palette.
I am seriously shoddy at contouring, but I have persevered for a while and kept trying new products in the hope that eventually I’d be able to get the hang of it. I’m not a huge fan of the Kim Kardashian, angular contour, but I do like to use it to enhance my cheekbones and, if I’m going out or I have more time than usual, I’ll also use it to slim my nose and add a little bit of definition to my face. It’s really easy to get it wrong – there is a very, very fine line between getting it just right and oh-so-wrong, so if you’re not great at straddling that line, theBalm Highlite ‘n’ Contour Palette will serve you wonderfully.
The palette contains four highlighters, three contour shades and one blusher shade, all of which feature that beautifully creamy/buttery texture that theBalm highlighters are so well known for. This means that you can jump into a bit of contouring knowing that they will blend out, so if you make a mistake you can blend it right down and start over. The included contour shades are absolutely perfect and cover warn and cooler leanings, so you can definitely mix it up to get your perfect shadow shade. I can get away with 1odB or 20dB but I do actually prefer 10dB – 0dB is a little too warm for me.
Of course, as will all theBalm products, you get the fun and quirky presentation alongside products that are well-formulated, sensibly considered and easy to use, making the Highlite ‘n’ Contour Palette the sort of palette that would be ideal for novices or those who are a bit pants at contouring (hello!) but the formulas are so lovely that this is the perfect palette for anyone who likes to contour. It’s £32 from Debenhams here – link – and you can check out swatches on the theBalm website here – link.

The shades look gorgeous! Do you find the pans are big enough to easily work with?

They are beautiful! That’s a really good question actually – I tend to use quite small brushes for contouring and highlighting so I don’t have a problem, but those who like to pick up a lot of product might struggle xx
Hmmm, I think I’ll have to head into the Bournemouth Superdrug store (which sells the Balm… how crazy is that?!) and have a look at it 😀
Do they really? That’s fantastic!! I hope this means they’re going to become more available now 🙂
You can still get them online at Superdrug, but I think they’re only in the really big stores of Superdrug atm, due to space
