I’ve featured both of these dewy sticks before, but I wanted to do a quick post flagging them again, as they’re such a great, easy way to add a touch of light and dimension to skin. Both the dewy sticks I have are very similar; they’re both chubby with rounded applicators (so ideal for splodging in place – you can literally draw the highlighter on, then blend out with your fingers) and both the shades I have are cool, white-toned silver with the lightest hint of shimmer.
I always favour powder highlighters as I find them easier to work with, but dewy sticks are particularly great if you like low-key makeup as they’re so flattering and natural. The two I have are Ciate Dewy Stix and Kiko Dewy Stick. The Ciate Dewy Stix is available in three shades (the one I have is Glow, but there’s a warmer Gleam and a pinker toned Lustre) and costs £22. The Kiko Dewy Stick was part of the Tropic Heat collection which was limited edition, but there are a few still available on eBay.
These are really easy to work with and you use them by drawing on streaks of light and blending until you’re happy. I find these are really good for highlighting the brow bone and cheek bone, but you can use them anywhere you like light – on particularly low maintenance days, you can use these as dewy eyeshadow to add a bit of life and light to the eyes. The main reason I recommend these above other non-powder highlighters is that they really do add a dewiness; whilst the swatches look quite shimmery, the actual finish is just glowy and luminous, a finish that’s quite hard to achieve with other products. You can find the Ciate Dewy Stix here – link.
