Years ago, when I was having one of my first major, hormonal breakouts, I was shopping for foundation when I arrived at the Estee Lauder counter to be presented with their Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Foundation, which was like a revelation – I remember running up to my mum after trying it saying “Look! You can’t see my spots any more!” as up until then, I wasn’t aware there was anything strong enough to cover such heavy breakouts. The Estee Lauder Double Wear collection is an iconic range of products aimed at giving you your best skin. There’s recently been a new addition to the family, the Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup.
Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup comes housed in a glass bottle and is available in a fantastic selection of 33 shades, all of which detail whether they lean cool, neutral or warm. Double Wear Nude offers light coverage in a buildable finish that will take you to a good medium, in a formula that’s designed to hydrate and improve the overall look of the skin underneath thanks to the inclusion of various fruit extracts to add antioxidants, whilst also providing a decent SPF30. It also promises 24 hour staying power, although I’m never in a position to confirm or deny whether it can go the full day!
I was a bit nervous about reviewing the Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup as obviously I have quite tricky skin that usually needs a lot of coverage, but it has improved quite a bit recently and I was surprised how I could actually get away with wearing this level of coverage without feeling like I needed more help. The shade I have is Porcelain (1N0) which is a really good match for me. What I like most about this foundation is that it gives a really natural, skin-like glow that just looks like skin; it doesn’t feel thick or oily on the face, so it’s a very comfortable product to use and wear.
The only downside, for me, is the bottle, which I’ve managed to spill quite a few times, but I noticed there’s a pump available for £5 here – link – so if you think you’ll likely be as clumsy as me then you can quickly address that! The Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup is a product aimed at giving you a flattering finish which just a touch of coverage where you need it most, in a long-wearing finish – this is a very low maintenance product that’s great for everyday wear – I was surprised how much I liked it, especially as I can just add a bit of concealer on days when I need a bit more help, so this is a product I’ll likely be reaching for on a regular basis, once I pick up the pump…It’s £32.50 here – link.
