The Philosophy The Microdelivery Detoxifying Oxygen Peel is a two-step treatment aimed at tricky, freaked out skin that’s suffering from breakouts, dullness, congestion, and pretty much all the frustrating issues that often appear when skin is stressed and unbalanced. It’s designed to address all of these issues, leaving skin feeling smooth and deeply cleansed without causing it any more stress or stripping it of moisture. Obviously I was all over this launch as it’s aimed at my type of skin.
The treatment process is quick and faff-free and involves applying the first step (a black and syrupy product) all over the face in a thick layer and leaving it for a few moments; this step contains activated charcoal and gently absorbs dirt and draws out impurities. The next step involves working the second product (a white and creamy gel) into the first step, which creates a reaction that results in a thick grey foam developing. The second step provides oxygenated nourishment in the form of skin-loving chlorophyll from barley leaf extract, which gives skin a real boost. You leave this for a few minutes before removing – the set contains a spatula for removal but I could not find mine after taking the picture, so I just used a face cloth.
The Philosophy The Microdelivery Detoxifying Oxygen Peel is a really interesting product. Firstly, leave your preconceptions at the door as I was expecting a skin-sucking clay treatment followed by one of those excruciating fizzy masks that feel like lots of little bugs crawling across your face, but neither of those were the case. The first step was lovely and gentle and just felt like a clay-based gel cleanser. The following foam as a result of adding the second step was so incredibly rich and thick, it felt like a really nourishing treatment which is definitely not the norm for products designed with spot-prone skin in mind.
After first use, the results were impressive; skin looked incredibly healthy, dewy and balanced. There was no residue or tight feeling, skin felt and looked just right and I would really recommend this to anyone who has skin prone to stress, breakouts or any skin that would benefit from a bit of balance. This is a product set that’s managed to straddle a number of needs (balancing, hydrating, deep cleansing) without being overly harsh and still providing a deep cleanse and a light exfoliation – it does it all! I’ll be reaching for this on a regular basis. The only downside I can see is that I think I’ll end up getting through the set quite quickly as I would imagine you’d only get around six uses per set, but if it works then who cares? It’s a worthy investment and it’s already out at John Lewis here – link – for £44.50.
