Herbal Essences can pretty much do no wrong, and they are honestly one of the very best high street hair care brands, in my humble opinion; I’ve never used anything from them that I haven’t really loved. The new Bio:Renew range consists of seven collections that each feature the key ingredient Histidine, which is apparently a natural purifier found in our bodies, although I don’t quite understand how this translates into hair care, but I thought I’d give it a mention!
The Herbal Essences White Grapefruit and Mosa Mint Shampoo and Conditioner are a duo designed to add volume to the hair, which they do with relative effectiveness,, without compromising shine and the feeling of healthy hair. I was a little uncertain about the fragrance as I’m not a huge fan of citric or minty scents, but this is a light and refreshing fragrance that works well for hair products. The shampoo products a creamy, cleansing lather and the conditioner feels rich yet light and not greasy. Together they produce hair that feels extremely clean and well conditioned, with light volume and plenty of shine. The volume is felt in the hair thickness, which is most apparent during the drying phase as hair feels thicker to the touch without feeling full of product. Because this is a set designed for hair that is lacking in volume, it does a great job at thoroughly cleaning (without stripping) hair, so I can comfortable go a few days between washes, even though my hair is prone to greasy roots, and I don’t find the need for dry shampoo as early as I do with other hair washing products. As was the case with the last Herbal Essence duo I tried, I reach for these two above and beyond other hair wash duos, some of which cost two or three times as much. These are £6 each for decent-sized bottles of product that I highly recommend. Find them at Boots – link.
