Obviously I find all aspects of beauty exciting, there is no way I could’ve been writing this blog for over six year if not, but I definitely have a core selection of brands that I get really enthusiastic about, with Pixi being one of the main ones; I’ve loved them since I first saw their stand years ago at Boots when they had products such as their French Lace eyeshadow (my first shade I hit pan on – I used it daily) and their Tint and Conceal base product which I thought, at the time, was the most innovative product I had ever seen. It’s surreal that just a few years later I’d be sat in a private room at the Riding House Cafe having dinner with Petra, the creator of Pixi, alongside a few other people involved with the Pixi brand, such as Caroline Hirons.
We all know Caroline for being the no-nonsense skincare blogger who can make or break a product launch, but did you know she also works with Pixi on special projects? I love the Pixi skincare range as there are some real stars in there (such as the Glow Mud Cleanser – link – the Glow Mist – link – and the Overnight Glow Serum – link – basically, they give good glow) but for some reason the Double Cleanse product completely passed me by, so when it showed up in a Pixi sendout, I was looking forward to giving it a go. As the name suggests, it’s a duo of cleansers with one side containing a solid cleansing oil and the other side featuring a cleansing cream. It’s a pair of brilliantly simple cleansers that will do exactly what they’re supposed to do: remove all make-up, dirt and grime without stripping skin or doing anything else fancy or unnecessary, paving the way for the rest of your skincare to do it’s thing. Using these will give you a thorough cleanse that’s gentle and basic, providing you with a blank canvas to allow acid toners, serums and moisturisers to work their magic without worry that you’ve overdone it with an overly harsh cleanser. This is the sort of cleansing duo that everyone could benefit from, since it’s going to suit pretty much all skin types and would be especially handy when you’ve overloaded your skin and need to take things back to basics. The Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse is £24 here – link.
