I first heard of Kate Somerville quite a while ago as one of those brands that produced amazing skincare that was really tricky to get your hands on if you were UK based. Then earlier this year, it was announced that the brand was coming to the UK, which was very exciting. I was sent the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser which is a daily foaming wash that provides an extremely gentle acid and enzymatic exfoliation thanks to the mix of chemical exfoliators including Glycolic and Lactic Acid as well as pineapple, pumpkin and papaya enzymes. The result is a creamy wash that feels light on the skin and is a pleasure to use.
I would say the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser is probably suited to most skin types and even my rosacea prone skin doesn’t get upset with this. What’s interesting about this cleanser is that it’s kind of unremarkable, in the sense that it won’t blow your mind with any kind of drastic skin transformation, but it will happily slot into any skincare routine and give skin just a little boost; a little more glow, a little more refinement and just generally improve the overall texture and finish, without anything too excessive. I actually ended up using this on an almost daily basis without realising it as it’s one of those products that just becomes a part of your routine without you even thinking about it – the fact that I reach for this so often without giving it much consideration is very telling. I also think it’s gentle enough to work in an acid-heavy routine, but as with any kind of exfoliation, ease these things together slowly. The Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser is £32 directly from the UK Kate Somerville shop here – link – and you can also find it at Cult Beauty here – link.
