I am so in love with my Obagi routine, and almost two months later I still feel the same, but there are definitely a couple of things I miss from everyday skincare. The first is acids – I really do love a good acid and miss using one regularly – and the second is a lovely, hydrating, Hyaluronic Acid serum. There is just something so joyful about applying a serum full of Hyaluronic Acid that gives skin that immediate, plumping boost and fills it with hydration. With that in mind, I thought I’d put together a feature on some of my favourites, with options for all tastes and budgets:
Starting off with The Ordinary, who you would really struggle to beat when it comes to a budget option. Not only do they have their original Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, they have also recently launched a lighter take on HA, the Marine Hyaluronics, for those who want to the many benefits of Hyaluronic Acid without using anything too dense or rich. If you’re able to spend a bit more on an investment HA serum, I have some great ones for you to try. The Pestle & Mortar Pure Hyaluronic Serum is a great HA product to start with, especially if you have a complicated skincare routine in place, as it’s light, pure and gentle, so it’ll slot right in without causing complications. The NIOD Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Complex is one of the most well-known HA serums as it’s a really good formula with a lovely hydrating texture that makes a noticeable difference straight away. It’s also well-priced at £25 here – link – for a 15ml bottle if you want to dip your toe in.
I’m kind of obsessed with Paula’s Choice Boosters, as they are such an easy way to tweak your routine. The Paula’s Choice Hyaluronic Acid Booster is a great example of such a product, allowing you to add a bit more HA to your routine whenever you need it. It’s also recently had a makeover! The SKN Rehab SKN Drench SKN Fix Actives are concentrated vials of HA that allow you to give your skin a deeply hydrating boost, making them a great choice during facials, after acids and whenever you want to use HA as a treatment boost. The final product is the luxuriously priced Dr Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum, which is an extremely hydrating (yet surprisingly light) product that’ll deeply boost moisture levels and leave skin looking incredibly smooth and plump. It’s very much an investment product that proves you get what you pay for, and thankfully you don’t need much with each use, as at £230 per bottle, it isn’t cheap.
