I have been lusting after the Smashbox + Vlada Petal Metal Collection for months, ever since I first saw it start appearing online, as how could you not lust after such a beautifully crafted collection?! The Smashbox + Vlada Petal Metal Collection is a collaboration between Smashbox and the MUA Vlada Haggerty, who’s work you will probably know without realising it, as she creates the most stunning lip art – check out her Instagram to see what I mean – so it was inevitable that this collection would be something special.
I so rarely focus on the packaging, but I have to show all the love for the way these products are presented as they’re just so inviting and exciting, it really makes the whole collection. I also really like the fact that there are so many products in this collaboration, so there’s a bit of something for everyone. The big focus is mostly on creating glow, but in that high-beam, Instagram fashion. Therefore, the colours focus heavily on metallic finishes (presumably, hence the name!) and colours, so there are lots of warm bronzes and rose golds. I’m someone who tends to gravitate towards cooler tones so there’s not a lot in the collection I could pull off, but there are certainly a few bits and bobs that cater to us cool-loving girls.
The Petal Metal Highlighter has to be the iconic product in the collection, as it’s so gorgeous to look at, as you can see above. I’ve included indoor and outdoor swatches. There are two shades, pictured is Rosemantic, which is a kind of duo-chrome that moves from rose gold to bronze. The Petal Metal Shimmer Drops are for those of you who like a really good hit of shimmer, although these can be mixed with other products to give them a bit of sparkle – pictured is the Gold Glitz shade. The Always On Petal Metal Liquid Lipstick joins the exciting Always On shades, providing amazing long-wear in a liquid lipstick – pictured is the shade In Bloom. Finally, the Petal Metal Liquid Eyeliner is another hardy product that takes a few moments to dry, then stays put – pictured is 24K Rose. Prices range from £19 to £30 and the whole collection can be found here – link.
