Image Skincare are one of those brands that I’ve heard lots about but never got around to trying, so it makes sense that my first real experience of the range would start with some of their amazing masques. I was sent three masks to try, but the Image Skincare Ormedic Balancing Gel Masque is the one I jumped on straight away as I’m going really hard at the retinols at the moment (with a mostly positive result – more on that in another post soon) so I try and make sure that all my other skincare is nice and soothing, especially when it comes to treatment masks.
The Image Skincare Ormedic Balancing Gel Masque is part of the skin-balancing Ormedic line, that consists of several products designed to sooth and lightly hydrate skin in need of a more gentle touch. This mask is pretty much as it sounds, soothing, balancing and really refreshing – it feels amazingly cooling and smells really nice; to me, it’s kind of like the sort of mask you imagined masks would be like when you thought about them as a child; cucumber-y and designed to make skin feel as if it’s had a really nice treat, without anything too harsh or OTT. This is the perfect mask to go alongside retinol use, as well as after peels or after exposure to weather extremes and I would say most skin types would see a benefit from using this. It’s also lightly hydrating and I think you could probably get away with using it overnight, although the instructions say it’s designed to be used for 5-30 minutes, however, I notice they say that on the other masks too, so that might just be their generic masking instructions.
