I’ve decided I’m going to treat myself to some Kiko bits soon, as each time I visit their site, I’m consumed with lust for all their beautiful make-up. The Kiko Pop Revolution is another classic collection from Kiko, themed around what’s clearly a 60’s/early 70’s vibe that makes my make-up loving heart squeal with joy – the promo image is of a girl with OTT liner, nude lips and big hair and it just makes me bitter and jealous that I never got to experience the 60’s first hand; what an era!
As is the norm with a Kiko collection, there are lots and lots of different products with a “something for everyone” approach. I was sent a few bits to play with, starting with a couple of eye bits – the Pop Revolution Eyeshadow Palette (£9.99) and the Pop Revolution Double Ended Eye Brush (£9.99). The Eyeshadow Palette is actually a duo, and available in three colourways – the one I have is called Brown-Shell and it’s definitely the most ‘me’ of the three. The formula is like butter – honestly, it’s like a foil finish in one swipe with zero fallout – and the shades are highly pigmented and easy to blend. The brush is okay, not really adding anything new to my collection but also quite a handy duo.
Next up are the cheek products, both of which are in stick form: the Pop Revolution Highlighter to Go (£9.99) comes in two shades and I have the Cool Gold shade which is a very flattering champagne shade. The blushers – Pop Revolution Blush to Go (£9.99) – come in four shades and I have Mauve which is an ideal, neutral shade for me and my pale skin. Both these products are okay, and I would say the blushers are slightly more preferable as you can splodge, blend and go, whereas the highlighter is a little too fat for such a quick application. I also think that the formulas are a little on the dry side, but as long as you’re quick you can get a decent blend, it’s just a shame that something you would expect to be creamier is actually a tad chalky.
The final product is the Pop Revolution Lip Style (£9.99) which I have in the shade Red, a shade I would never normally go near as if I’m going bright, I tend to go for pink, but this is a really lovely, flattering red that’s bright, but also a little deeper and more vampy. The best thing about it is the gorgeous formula, which is soooo creamy and comfortable to wear, it feels like silk going on, but it isn’t buttery, so you don’t feel like it’s going to slip all over the place, which is especially handy if you fancy one of the bolder shades.
There are lots of lovely bits in the Kiko Pop Revolution collection, especially if you favour that retro 60’s vibe. There are some very pretty pinks in the Pop Revolution Lipglosses, plus there’s a muted pink Pro Revolution Nail Lacquer shade that I’m almost definitely going to need in my life. The whole Kiko Pop Revolution collection has been out for a while, so they’ll likely pull it soon – therefore, if you see anything you fancy, don’t hang about!
