I so rarely go to events nowadays, but a few weeks ago, OPI launched their Mexico City collection with a night of Mexico-themed joy that was so up my street, and I’m so glad I went! Not only is the collection a colour-lovers dream, the event itself involved consuming a series of Mexico tapas and drinking tasty Mexican cocktails (virgin for me, since I was driving) and it was definitely my favourite event for a while.
As with all OPI collections, OPI Mexico City contains 12 shades available in three wears: Gel, Infinite Shine (half way between Gel and standard polish) and Lacquer. As you’d expect from a collection inspired by Mexico, there’s lots of bright, fun colour with a few different finishes, plus a new more toned-done neutrals for those who prefer a softer approach.
My mum and I are both suckers for a beautiful pink, and the Telenovela Me About It is one of the most amazing pinks ever – a bright fuchsia with blue undertones, making it incredibly flattering for all skin tones, but especially those who are very dark or very pale, as this is one of those shades that really pops. I’m not someone who often reaches for the glitter, but Mural Mural on the Wall is such an interesting shade; it’s a deep peach shot through with golden glitter and hints of red; I bet this would be the most amazing pedicure shade on tanned feet!
It wouldn’t be an OPI collection without a beautiful deep navy shade; Mariachi Makes My Day is a deep purple navy that leans one way or another depending on the light. I’m currently building up courage to try the Don’t Tell a Sol, which is a sunshine yellow that makes me so happy, although I’m not sure it’ll suit my skin tone.
The OPI Mexico City Collection is available now, with various sets and mini packs available. Find the whole lot here – link.
