One thing I always look forward to at this time of the year is the Lancome Holiday Collection, as it’s always so beautifully festive without being OTT – like the brand itself, it’s classy, understated and elegant, and the 2020 edit is exactly that. I don’t have many traditions when it come to Christmas, but kicking off my Christmas content with a look at the Lancome festive launches is one I always try to stick with.
The Lancome Holiday Makeup Collection 2020 consists of four products, with the main star being the La Rose Eyeshadow Palette, which is probably my favourite palette yet from Lancome. The other products include two shades of the L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipstick in the same sparkly pop-up packaging that featured in the collection from last year – a brilliant move as this is such a beautiful presentation for a lipstick. The final product is the La Rose Highlighter.
The two L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipsticks come in shades Coeur de Rubis (274) and Rubiez (473). Couer de Rubis appears to be a mid-toned nude and Rubiez is a beautiful, true red that’s a little deeper and cooler than a classic red, making it an ideal choice for most skin tones and just gorgeous! The bullet of the lipstick is shaped like a diamond, making it as much of a treat for the eyes as the lips. I was accidentally sent two of the Rubiez rather than one of each, but this means I get to use one and keep one just to look at; from the silver sparkle packaging to the diamond bullet, it truly is a work of art.
Speaking of works of art, the La Rose Highlighter is another great example of the sort of product that you just want to keep on your beauty dresser, dust-free and unspoilt. The rose embellishment on the packaging of both the La Rose Highlighter and the La Rose Eyeshadow Palette can also be found on the highlighter powder itself, giving it a real 3D effect that allows you to see the multi-dimensional sparkle. The shade is called Crystal Holographic, which I think sums it up perfectly – this is a cool-toned number that’ll add a touch of light, gentle flecked with subtle colour.
The La Rose Eyeshadow Palette is such a joy! I cannot wait to have actual opportunities to wear some of these gorgeous shades, and I love the fact that they’ve included some more fun and bright colours – with the bold red lipstick alongside the fresh and icy highlighter, it would have been so easy to go for a generic nude take on the palette, but the La Rose Eyeshadow Palette contains a vibrant mix of sparking blue alongside bright gold, a rich red-toned copper and some beautiful neutrals to make the colours pop. Such a stunning, stunning palette.
The Lancome Holiday Makeup Collection 2020 is available now. The L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipsticks are £27 each, the La Rose Highlighter is £35 and the La Rose Eyeshadow Palette is £45. Find them all here – link.
