Lancome fragrances make up the majority of the perfumes that I hold on to and use regularly, because they just do such lovely fragrances! They’re also so feminine without any sickliness, grown-up without being overly mature or dated and they’re especially good at making you feel like you are wearing and using something very fancy. The Lancome La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal fragrance is a perfect example of everything I’ve just mentioned.
Lancome La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal is the newest addition to the iconic La Vie Est Belle range of perfumes. Soleil Cristal is all about happiness (I read that and was sold before smelling it) and it’s designed to make you feel lighter, brighter and sunnier…much like I think we’re all feeling right now, so this launch is perfectly timed to be the fragrance that hopefully marks the end of a horrible time in our lives.
The top notes kick off with Bergamot Oils, Mandarin Oils and Pink Pepper Oil. At the heart there’s Sunny Coconut Accord (love that name!), Orange Blossom and Jasmine Sambac Absolute. At the base there’s Iris Concrete, Patchouli Bali Oil and the rather fancily named Vanilla Bourbon Premium Madagascar Infusion. That’s right. Fancy.
Lancome La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal is actually unexpectedly unusual! I think you read that a fragrance contains coconut and vanilla and expect some sort of pretty, fragrant take on holidays and sunscreen, but this has a lot of depth, isn’t overly floral and there’s a really fascinating drydown that’s really hard to pinpoint; normally (in my very limited experience) when the drydown occurs you can usually work out exactly what blend of notes are left for you to inhale, but I cannot work out what’s going on, which I think is kind of awesome, to be honest!
It would be ridiculous to write a review of the Lancome La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal without mentioning that stunning bottle. The holographic element makes you want to just stand around finding spots of sunlight so you can look at all the pretty colours. One thing I always love about the Lancome fragrances is how they are never OTT and are always so chic and so very French, and I think the delicate femininity of the Lancome La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal bottle might actually be my favourite of the bunch.
Lancome La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal is currently available in two sizes, 50ml (pictured) for £78 and the 100ml for £99.50. Find them both here – link.

WOW! I too absolutely love Lancome fragrances and purchased the La Vie Est Belle the year it was introduced. (for my own gift for Mother’s Day!:) However, your splendid review of the new “Soleil Cristal” version has me so curious that I must buy a bottle as soon as possible!
Thanks so much Phyllis! I have such a soft spot for Lancome perfumes, they’re so reliably lovely xx
