I’ve always been quite intrigued by the Alterna hair care brand, as I really like their process regarding how they formulate their products; they take a skincare-like approach and include ingredients that have proven results within the skincare arena (such as Caviar) and consequently, you have products such as the Exfoliating Cleanser the Moisture CC Cream. I realise this all could be clever marketing, but their range is vast (47 products in Feelunique) and they do a lot of things that pique my interest, so I was keen to give their newest launch the Alterna My Hair, My Canvas range a go.
My Hair, My Canvas is pretty much as it sounds, a line of good quality, basics products that are fuss-free, easy to slot into existing routines, or can give your current routine an overhaul depending on your needs. There are ten products in the line in total so far, all of which are Vegan and cleanly packaged in turquoise, apart from one random rebel that is the aforementioned Exfoliating Cleanser which comes in different packaging. I have been trying out three of the products: the Me Time Everyday Shampoo, Me Time Everyday Conditioner and the Soaring High Volumising Blowout Mist.
Kicking off with the Me Time Everyday Shampoo and coordinating conditioner which are, as the name suggests, gentle enough for daily use and a great pair for keeping hair clean and fresh without drying it out. For me, I have a lot of hair that’s very long and very coloured, so I tend to wash it 3-4 times a week and I favour products that are a bit more nourishing – even though I have fine hair, I need the moisture as it’s so long now – so I think this duo is more suited to someone who likes a daily wash. I think this would also be a great pairing for swimmers and sporty types as these are products designed for lots of gentle washing.
For me, the star of the show is the Soaring High Volumising Blowout Mist as this is such a great product that gets the volume just right; enough so the height and thickness of your hair is noticeably improved, but not so much so that you just look ridiculous! I also find a lot of volumising products give hair a tacky feeling but you couldn’t feel this at all in the hair, plus I didn’t find my hair got greasier and in need of a wash sooner which is also a common problem with volumising products. Check out my IG post after using it here.
