In my (humble) opinion, there are a few skincare ingredients that are absolutely essential, and these are retinol, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C, as all three of these go above and beyond to provide some serious skincare benefits. Today, I’m sharing with you the Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester range, which is a comprehensive collection built around the amazing benefits of Vitamin C.
I was gifted four products to try out: Vitamin C Ester Citrus Brightening Cleanser, Vitamin C Ester Brightening Serum, Vitamin C Ester CCC+ Ferulic Brightening Complex 20% and Vitamin C Ester Photo-Brightening Moisturiser Broad Spectrum SPF30. There are several other products in the range, including an eye serum and an overnight treatment – you can find the full range here – link.
The Vitamin C Ester Citrus Brightening Cleanser (starting at £16 here – link) is as lovely as it sounds, providing a fresh boost of citric scent, making it a great choice for the AM cleanse. It’s foaming, but not aggressively so, so it doesn’t feel like it’s stripping the skin. It also feels lightly exfoliating, so skin feels noticeably smoother after use. I think this is the sort of AM cleanser that most people would enjoy, other than maybe those with very dry skin due to the foaming element.
Both the Vitamin C Ester Brightening Serum (£61 here – link) and the Vitamin C Ester CCC+ Ferulic Brightening Complex 20% (£133 here – link) are similar in their intentions, with both being designed to provide a brightening complex of Vitamin C ester delivered via a serum-based product. The Brightening Serum is a great starting point for a good quality Vitamin C serum, as it feels light on the skin and absorbs easily, whereas the CCC+ Ferulic Brightening Complex 20% takes things a bit further thanks to two additional forms of Vitamin C and a higher concentration, so great for those who want to upgrade their Vitamin C routine.
The final product, the Vitamin C Ester Photo-Brightening Moisturiser Broad Spectrum SPF30 (£61 here – link) was the only product out of the four that didn’t really work too well for my skin, as it was just a bit too light for me – I much prefer a thicker, creamier moisturiser for day time use as I like to provide a good base for makeup. I think this is a great option for anyone who wants to add Vitamin C to their routine without the faff of additional products, as this serves as a day cream, Vitamin C treatment and SPF all-in-one. It has also has a really interesting, mousse-like texture and it smells great too!
