The Ordinary have delivered us a host of new skincare joy, with six products to try, including two new cleansers, two new moisturisers, and a serum for both the eyes and the face. I love, love, LOVE a good cleanser, I don’t think there’s any point in spending any time on skincare if you’re not getting the cleansing basics right, and I also feel that a really good moisturiser is integral to any routine, so this bundle of loveliness was very much up my street. Let’s take a closer look at the individual products:
First up, the cleansers, and I love them both. We have the Glycolipid Cream Cleanser and the Glucoside Foaming Cleanser (both £11.10) an they are both excellent examples of gentle, yet effective cleansers that can slot into any routine. The Glucoside Foaming Cleanser provides a very gentle, foaming cleanse that doesn’t strip the skin and can work as an AM or PM cleanser. My personal favourite, the Glycolipid Cream Cleanser, is more like a rich gel and is just the tonic for keeping skin balanced and soothed, whilst thoroughly cleansing without leaving any residue.
The two new moisturisers are the Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan (£12) and the Natural Moisturizing Factors + PhytoCeramides (£20). The Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan is a lightweight gel that encourages surface hydration without providing anything too heavy or suffocating. The Natural Moisturizing Factors + PhytoCeramides is a really beautiful formulation that feels amazing on the skin, it’s like a really rich gel-cream that I think would be particularly well-suited to those routines that contain strong actives. Annoyingly, there is something in both of these that upset my skin, but don’t let that put you off as my skin is notorious for breaking out over the most ridiculous products (can’t touch anything with Niacinamide, rose or rosehip derivatives) so chances are there is something in these products that wouldn’t be a problem for most people with less fussy skin.
Finally, the serums! The Aloe 2% + NAG 2% Solution (£12.90) is basically an acne-sufferers dream, providing a multitude of benefits to help with all the issues associated with breakouts; this will help with soothing the breakouts and inflammations whilst also balancing the skin and tackling the post-acne marks too, so it’s a wonder product that everyone needs in their kit! The Multi-Peptide Eye Serum (£19.90) is a lightweight formula that’s rammed full of actives, yet very gentle on the delicate eye area and I have found it doesn’t sting if you accidently get it in your eye, which I do pretty much everyday because I don’t ever learn from my mistakes. I like to layer my eye products in the same way I do my skincare, and this layers really well with other products.
