Are you familiar with RoC skincare? I feel like they’re a brand from my childhood that’s kind of always been around, but only recently reappeared on the skincare radar, presumably as a result of now being available at Boots, which is excellent news as not only are they more accessible, they’ll be eligible for promotions so there will be inevitable savings to be had – if there’s one thing Boots do brilliantly, it’s a really good promo!
RoC skincare have been around for an impressive 65 years with roots established in French pharmacy; they are leading experts in retinol so their range has a heavy focus on providing gentle, yet effective actives, with a really good collection of products aimed at eye care, as well as serums and hydrators. They have a collection of retinol-based products that promise absolutely no irritation whatsoever, so they’re a great place to start if you’re new to this essential skincare ingredient.
To celebrate their arrival into Boots, I was sent a couple of their bestselling products. The RETINOL CORREXION Line Smoothing Max Hydration is a beautiful, rich moisturiser that contains a gentle mix of both retinol and hyaluronic acid, promising 48 hours of hydration. I have ridiculous skin at the moment that is reacting to absolutely everything, so I couldn’t use this more than a couple of times just to get a feel for the product, but my first impressions were really good and my skin completely drank this up; I ended up layering more on top because it felt soooo hydrating and comforting on my very compromised skin barrier; if anything is going to show irritation, it’s a broken barrier, but this hydrator caused no additional issues whatsoever, confirming their declaration of gentle retinol.
The second product I received is the RETINOL CORREXION Line Smoothing Eye Cream which is a fabulous product. I am eye cream obsessed (RoC do a lot of eye creams and I want them all!) and I have several criteria that they need to meet for them to become keepers; they need to hydrate really well without causing any stinging, they need to be easy to apply and ideally they need to play well under make-up – the last one is negotiable as I don’t mind using a different eye cream during the day, but this one from RoC manages to tick all of these boxes! I love that it’s in a tube with a small applicator so you can be really precise about how much you use, it also leaves skin looking noticeably hydrated AND it sits really well under makeup.
If neither of these products tickle your fancy, RoC has a huge range with some really exciting products, such as the Revive + Glow Eye Balm (want) and the Derm Correction Dual Eye Cream (need) with everything on promo at Boots right now with a huge discount of a third!
