I was completely unfamiliar with Perfume Direct untiI I was kindly given the opportunity to request a couple of fragrances to review, but I was so surprised by, firstly, how many great brands they stock, and secondly, how much of a discount the apply to (what appears to be) pretty much everything they stock! Trust me, if you’re about to buy a new fragrance then make sure you check them out – they also have some lovely gift sets too, so if you’re planning to treat someone to a lovely new perfume then definitely have a look.
I was given the opportunity to select two fragrances, so the first one I chose was by Juliette Has a Gun and called Sunny Side Up. The bright yet grown-up packaging matches the scent perfectly, which I would call quite woody, thanks to the sandalwood and Amyris. There’s also jasmine in both the top and heart notes, which is one of the reasons I went for this scent as a diehard jasmine lover, but sadly I can’t smell it all! To me, it’s a creamy, woody number that works well for the winter months. Normally £95 for 50ml, Perfume Direct have it for just £57.99 here.
My favourite of the duo is the Mon Guerlain Sparkling Bouquet, which I chose because I’ve never tried a Guerlain fragrance before, but I sensed they’d be the sort of fragrances I enjoy. To be frank, I’m a Basic Bitch when it comes to scents; I’d love to be one of those creative fragrance loving types who can really break a perfume down and understand it at every level, but I just want to smell pretty – like fancy Potpourri – so if you are the same then I think you’ll like a bit of Guerlain too!
Sparking Bouquet is bright, cheerful, feminine and zesty, with fruity top notes (pear, bergamot, mandarin) floral heart notes (lavender, peony and Jasmine Sambac) and a woody musk base of vanilla, sandalwood and musk. Ground-breaking it is not, but it is very pretty, very feminine, light and breezy and not too sweet. Whilst housed among some beautiful notes, the lavender is definitely punchy, so you might want to avoid this if you’re not a fan. It’s currently unavailable at Perfume Direct, but they do have loads of Guerlain fragrances, all of which appear to have a decent discount, so I’ve linked to that page here.
I just wanted to share a little introduction to a couple of fragrances that you might find on Perfume Direct, but if neither of these tickle your fancy, you’ll find soooo many others from brands such as Tom Ford (big discounts!) YSL, Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs, plus loads of others! Check them out here.
