Unless it’s especially well-suited to my skin type, I tend to give away the majority of the skincare I receive in beauty boxes in favour of the makeup, as with makeup, I’m much more likely to experiment and move a little outside of my comfort zone than I would do, logically, with skincare, so a makeup beauty box is right up my street…enter, Sweet Sparkle Box.
Each month, the Sweet Sparkle box will deliver five, full-sized makeup items that sit around a theme, with the month’s theme being Berry Crush, so basically everything is either berry toned or designed to work alongside berry toned makeup. As someone who really doesn’t get that excited about beauty boxes, for obvious reasons, I am very excited about this one. The Berry Crush theme isn’t really something that speaks to my personal tastes, but that’s the joy of a box like this; it doesn’t need to suit your usual style as it’ll hopefully introduce you to products and colours that sit outside of your usual.
The Sweet Sparkle box comes from America (but worldwide shipping is free, so it’s all good) which means the brands are quite a bit different to the ones we have over here, which in my mind is another huge plus – this is basically a service that’ll not only introduce you to possibly new makeup loves, but new brands too. The Berry Crush box contains a really good collection of products that’ll allow you to create an entire new look. Eyes and face are sorted with the Hikari Cosmetics Eyeshadow Quad, Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara and the Manna Kadar Fantasy 3in1 Blush, Highlighter and Eyeshadow.
Lips are sorted with the Kokie Cosmetics Waterproof Velvet Smooth Lip Liner Pencil in Berry Plum and the Ultra Longwear Matte Lip Paint in Royalist. The only product in the box I’d be unlikely to wear is the 3in1 as it isn’t really the sort of shade I’d go for. Having said that, it’s the perfect glowy neutral to sit alongside such vivid, berry tones so I can really see why it’s the box. The palette, liner and lipstick are awesome and I’m looking forward to trying the mascara too, so this is a really good first box for me and I look forward to seeing what next month brings. The Sweet Sparkle subscription service is tiered depending on how long you sub for, so if you pay for a year in advance then it’ll be $21 a month (just over £16 at the time of writing), or, if you’re looking to try it only a monthly basis, it’s $24.50 a month (just under £19 at time of writing) but all options include postage and I think these are really good prices.
