I wouldn’t say Botanicals are a huge brand that you see absolutely everywhere, but they’ve certainly built themselves a reputation so that you regularly see people raving about their products on social media. Therefore, I was excited to get my hands on their cult Cleanse Melts. There are currently two Botanicals Cleanse Melts available, Nourish Cleanse Melt and Gentle Cleanse Melt, so here are my thoughts on both:
The Nourish Cleanse Melt is your typical cleansing balm; it’s rich, unctuous and it feels great on the skin, encouraging lots of massage courtesy of the texture, as well as the aroma of the rose and camellia. This is quite a dense balm, so you’ll need to like the feeling of oily cleansing balms to enjoy this, and I would say it’s best suited to anyone with slightly more dry and combination skin types, although I don’t think there are any skin types who would have problems with this, however, I’d recommend going in with a toner afterwards if you’re spot-prone as this does leave a light film on the skin – great for dry or mature skin types, but less so for spotty ones! This definitely didn’t give me any breakouts though and I personally love how rich it is as it feels like a cleanser that’s doing a little more for the skin than just removing all the day’s dirt, grime and make-up.
My favourite of the two is definitely the Gentle Cleanse Melt, as this is the most fantastic product for extremely gentle, yet thorough cleansing in an impressively light and kind-to-skin formula. It’s still very much a cleansing balm, but it’s a lot less dense than the Nourish Cleanse Melt, instead just feeling light and refreshing on the skin, without any heaviness or oiliness. This is fragranced with chamomile and marigold, although again it’s a very light fragrance that you definitely won’t struggle with. If you’re someone who wants to get on the cleansing balm bandwagon but hates the idea of rubbing an oily balm all over your face, this is the answer, making it a great choice for all skin types, particularly sensitive and spot-prone, but this is also a product I’d really recommend for anyone on a routine that’s high in actives (like me and my retinols) as it’s so gentle that it won’t upset skin at all. I cannot recommend this enough, and I’ve actually added it to my skincare shop on the main page because I’m such a fan.
