Susan Posnick has recently added six new vibrant shades to her ColourEssential lipstick collection just in time for Summer 2013. The shades are named and represented by city names, and I was sent Tokyo to try out.
Tokyo in the tube looks like a deep, vampy red, but it actually translates to a much brighter, cherry shade. It’s got just enough of both elements of the colour spectrum (a little bit of warmth from orange and a little bit of coolness from blue) to be, I would think, flattering against most skin tones. The fact that it’s also a wonderfully moisturising formula means that it’s a very easy look to pull off.
The colour payoff is completely opaque in a single swipe, but be aware that such a strong shade will be prone to bleeding and slipping. Thankfully it didn’t happen on me, but that doesn’t mean it won’t in the future!
I absolutely love the formula and would say it’s akin to the likes of Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shines. There are five other new shades in the summer colour, including some insanely pretty pinks:
I’ve heard such great things about the Susan Posnick brand, but this was my first chance to try something and it’s safe to say that it’s left a very positive impression. Clean and neat packaging, easy, wearable formula and gorgeous seasonal shades make this new collection a total winner for me. Available now for £18.50 and stockists can be found here.
