The Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturizing Lipsticks are a new range of lip colours available in 24 shades, and the most gloriously kitsch packaging I have possibly ever come across in commercial beauty! I really love the fact that they’re brand relevant and 3D versions of the infamous Elizabeth Arden Red Door. As luck would have it, my goody bag from a recent Arden event contained this new lipstick in the shade Red Door Red, so I really am fully embracing all things Red Door.
I really like the texture of this lipstick, as it’s definitely moisturising, but there’s still a very decent colour payoff and the colour stays well too. Often when the word ‘moisturising’ (or moisturizing, grrr) is added to a description of a lip product, it can come at a detriment of colour pigmentation, but the balance has been carefully struck with this new formulation to allow for plenty of colour and moisture. Don’t expect a buttery, glossy, balm-like texture though, as this is very much a lipstick with a creamy – rather than glossy – finish.
Red Door Red is a true, vibrant red that won’t be too forgiving if your application technique isn’t up to scratch! It’s a Hollywood red that doesn’t lean too far one way or another, and should suit most skin tones I think. All the big name shades are covered in the 24 new colours, including plenty of takes on red, pink and plum, so there’s definitely something for everyone’s everyday make-up kit. There’s also a few token nude shades dropped in, and I’m particularly interested in the pink shades (I know, what a shocker!) especially Pretty Pink which looks to be right up my street – to have a look at the full shade range, head here – link. The Beautiful Colour Moisturizing Lipsticks are £19.50 each, putting them at the higher end of the mid-range market, but you do get the most glorious case holding the lipstick, so it’s worth picking up one even if it’s just for that!
