Since I fell in love with the Bobbi Brown brand several years ago, one thing I have always lusted after is her brushes, or more specifically her brush sets, of which there are usually a few limited edition collections released in time for Christmas each year. The sets are always beautifully presented, with decadent, sophisticated packaging and carefully selected brushes. There’s always something extremely glamorous about them and I’ve always hoped to receive a set under the Christmas tree, but that wish has never been fulfilled.
This year I was sent a couple of gifts from the Christmas collection (I know, I’m extremely fortunate and the excitement of an unexpected Bobbi Brown envelope is beyond comparison!) which included the Old Hollywood Mini Brush Set and to this day I am yet to find anything more exciting to arrive by post; I realise that sounds dramatic but I have honestly wanted a Bobbi Brown brush set forever! After I recovered from the initial excitement, I realised how perfect the set would be for my 12 Gifts of Christmas guide, so here’s a closer look at the included brushes.
The brushes come presented in a pale, rosy-gold, leather-effect case that is lined with satin and has a satin pocket on each side to hold the brushes. I think the case is ideal for carrying around make-up, and as it’s very sturdy it’s perfect for storing anything a bit delicate, but of course you can use it to carry around the brushes as there’s certainly enough room for the addition of a couple of make-up items.
Inside you get travel-sized versions of the Face Blender Brush, Eye Sweep Brush and Eye Brow Brush as well as a double ended brush with one end being the Angle Eye Shadow Brush and the other being the Smokey Eyeliner Brush. If you’ve never tried Bobbi Brown brushes then you most definitely need to rectify this as they have a strong reputation for being some of the best in the business and this kit would make a wonderful introduction for yourself as well as a gorgeous Christmas gift. The Old Hollywood Mini Brush Set has already sold out online, so you’ll need to do some scouting if you’re hoping to track it down. It’s £55 and more info can be found here – link.
