I was quickly lifted into an incredibly festive mood when the new Lancome Christmas Collection arrived, as it’s just so beautifully Wintery! The collection is very lip-heavy, with a lip palette, three lipsticks and a mascara, all of which have been dressed-up in sparkling silver to mark the festive period. This is an absolutely beautiful collection and I love everything about it.
I have to start with the Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Lip Palette (£45), don’t I? I mean, just look at it! I’m much more of an eyeshadow palette than a lip palette person, but this beauty has swayed me as it’s so well executed. It contains seven nine lip products in total: three reds, four pinks and two lip toppers, but what I love most of all is the fact that the palette contains a mix of textures, so you can achieve a completely bespoke finish. You have sheers, mattes, drama mattes and creams, making it so much easier to find your perfect party lip.
The shade line-up starts with (from left to right) the Copper Top Coat, then you have 105 A La Folie (sheer), 134 Rouge Passion (drama matte), 505 Adoration (drama matte), 378 Rose Lancome (matte), 290 Poeme (matte), 377 O Oui! (cream), 317 Pourquoi Pas? (sheer) and finally the Light Pink Top Coat. I absolutely love all the pinks, but the reds are surprisingly wearable too, especially if you involve the top coats for a bit of interest. Predictably though, my favourite has to be the incredibly pretty Pourquoi Pas, a girly pink that goes with everything.
There are three limited edition versions of the Lancome L’Absolu Rouge (£27) in shades in 503 Golden Holiday, 132 Caprice and 06 Rose Nu – in same order swatched below. Golden Holiday is surprisingly wearable, even though it looks quite terrifying in the swatch – I have zero parties in my social calendar (single mum syndrome…) but I can see this paired with a smoky grey eye for a fantastic holiday look.
Caprice is your typically flattering red: bright but not neon and sultry without being trashy; it’s grown-up, sophisticated red that’s supported by it’s beautifully creamy and comfortable texture. Finally, my favourite of the bunch (of course!) is Rose Nu, which I’m really happy they included in a holiday collection as it’s just so lovely and easy to wear, it’s like a night time nude that’s just a little bit more pouty and juicy than your typical, ‘my lips but better’ nude, although of course it’s great for daytime wear too.
As you can see, the packaging is just stunning: silver and sparkly, with slide-up opening (compress the top and out it pops) making these the perfect lipsticks for pulling out of your purse during party season. It’s so easy to go gold for Christmas, but I will always love silver more and these lipsticks perfectly demonstrate why.
I’ve said many times how Lancome make the very best mascaras available, so I was hugely excited to have a brand new Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara (£25.50) to tuck into, especially in this gorgeous limited edition packaging. Hypnose Drama is a fan favourite and I can see why, as it gives you huge, long, fanned-out lashes without any smudging or clumping, it lasts fantastically and yet it comes off easily in the evenings. All Lancome mascaras are fantastic, but I totally get why this is a favourite.
That disco ball packaging is absolutely stunning! x
