Some of you will know (due to my constant bleating and moaning about it on Twitter) that I’m having some skin issues at the moment. I managed to clear up my problem skin a while ago, but lately I’ve had a few stressful problems that have resulted in some hardcore, regular breaking out that refuses to be tamed by my usual reliable products. So as a consequence of this, I’ve been mooching around my local haunts to find out what else is on offer for us problem skin types. I came across La Roche Posay Effaclar today at Boots and whilst it’s a range I’ve never used before, I was swayed by the interesting promises on the products and the fact that Boots are running a 2 for £15 promotion on all Effaclar items. I purchased A.I. which is a targeted blemish corrector and the Duo which is corrective and unclogging anti-imperfection care, whatever that may mean. I do love the French way of making something as horrid as spots sound chic.
I only bought these products today so I can’t realistically review them, but I have tried the A.I. and so far my thoughts are that it’ll be quite harsh on sensitive skin as it’s a tad on the tingly side, but my spots have calmed down since application (about 2 hours ago) and I think this would be a good treatment to wear under make-up as once it soaked in it didn’t feel too ‘sitting on the skin’.
Having read the included pamphlet, I’m quite impressed with what the range has to offer (assuming any of it actually works) as it seems to be aimed at my skin type; no longer a spring chicken but still spot prone. It has a few things in the range that are aimed at counteracting the drying effect of spot treatments so I feel this is more of an ‘adult acne’ range, which I like.
I’ll report back with my findings from the two products and if you fancy finding out more, have a look here.
I LOVE Effaclar Duo. It’s really effective at clearing clogged pores and reducing inflammation. I don’t love Effaclar AI so much. I found that it irritated my spots more than anything else. Hopefully you’ll have a better experience!
Oh god really? I hope that doesn’t happen as I’m getting a bit desperate now! Glad to hear you get on well with Duo, will do an update when I’ve tried them a bit more xx
