Again, still shouldn’t be blogging as I’m still feeling rather rubbish, but the first of January’s beauty boxes arrived today and it came in the form of Feel Unique, so I couldn’t resist a quick run through of what’s included. Sincerest apologies for the shoddy photography, unfortunately they all were taken from the comfort of my bed. Feel Unique are the cheapest of the lot, but you wouldn’t be able to tell that with the samples included in this month’s box as even though they’re not worth that much (other than the Lierac cream), they’re a fairly posh looking bunch. There’s a great selection of skincare and hair care items, but it is lacking anything in the make-up department which is a bit of a shame as I love receiving make-up in the beauty boxes. The theme is “New Year, New You” and the included samples are aimed at helping you move on and recover from the excesses of the festive season.
Lierac Coherence Lift Infrared Lifting Cream
First up is this sample of cream from a brand that I have to admit to not being familiar with. It kind of looks like a posh version of L’Oreal, so I’m looking forward to seeing what it has to offer. I’m not sure whether this cream is suitable for my skin type, but I’ve had a mooch through the ingredients list and it all looks promising, so we shall see. Full sized, this retails at £56.55 for 50ml, so the included 15ml sample is worth around £17.
Green People Gentle Cleanse
I’ve got a few Green People samples hanging around and whilst I haven’t had a chance to try them yet (got sooo much skincare to work through at the moment) I’ve read some really positive things about them and thankfully, this cleanser will definitely get used soon as my post-sickness skin will be crying out for a slightly richer cleanser than my usual cleansing waters. This costs £15.25 for 200ml, so the included sample is worth around £1.
Phyto PhytoBaume Colour Protect Express Conditioner
I love receiving hair items in beauty boxes as they’re the one product that I know I’ll try regardless of whether they’re suitable for my hair type or not. I’m not thrilled that there isn’t a matching shampoo sample as I prefer to try new ranges together (unless it’s a deep conditioner, there’s a logic there somewhere…) but I’m still eager to try this as I’ve not used Phyto before, even though they have an impressive reputation. Full sized, this is £10.20 for 150ml, so the 20ml sample is worth around £1.50.
Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion
Yawn, another body lotion. All beauty box suppliers seem really keen to supply lots and lots of samples of these which for some I’m sure is great, but I’m not a body lotion user so I just have a stack of them mounting up in my beauty chest. There’s not much I can say about this one other than it smells really nice and absorbs quickly. This is £21.50 for 400ml, meaning this sample is worth around £1.60.
Dead Sea Spa Magik Salt Brushing
Yup! Them again. This is a brand that seems to be doing the rounds of beauty boxes as they’ve shown up in two other boxes so far. As soon as I saw the sample sachets I was a bit disappointed as I assumed they’d be bath salts, but thankfully instead they are scrubbing salts which I can use in the comfort of my shower. I’ll certainly give these a whirl as I’m not opposed to a good bit of in-shower scrubbing. The front cover of each sachet declares that the product has a “hypnotic zesty citrus aroma” so I fear a Fairy Liquid scented shower may be imminent….this retails at £12.25 for 500g and included are 2 x 50g sachets worth a total of around £2.50.
Lierac Comfort Peel
This was an extra and not mentioned in the pamphlet and for some reason I can’t find it on the Feel Unique site either, which is a bit strange. From what I can gather, it’s another form of day cream and isn’t a mechanical or chemical exfoliator as the name suggests. This retails for £22.86 for 40ml, making the included sample of 2ml worth around £1.
Pug
She vants to be alone. Ideally with an unlimited supply of cheesy bites. |
There was no Pug in January’s Feel Unique box *sigh*. However, my Pug decided during the photo sesh that it was her Vogue moment, so rather than appear in every shot, I promised her that if I took a couple of pics and included one in the post, she’d allow me to get on with it. So here she is, Elle MacPugson.
So this month’s total comes in at a little under £25. Not astoundingly good value if you consider the overall totals of some of the other boxes, but I think it’s pretty reasonable considering the whole lot costs less than £10 and the mix is fairly decent.
Looks like a good box! I’m still to try the Magik salt scrub from my Glossybox, but should try it at some point. A few things in there look quite good. x
OMG how cute is your Pug!!!
I do like the look of this box, as I actually prefer skincare and haircare samples to make-up, but I have to admit that the most exciting thing in this post was the picture of your pug 😉

Exactly the same as my box! I like Green People, have you tried the Blemish Banish? I really liked it – actually covered red spots 🙂
@miss Stylicious there are sooo many Magik products hanging around my place now…it’s not good! The only one I’m really interested in is the salt scrub so I’ll be trying it soon xx
@Caroline thanks, she’s gorgeous isn’t she? I couldn’t resist putting a pic up! xx
@Chrissy ha ha 😀 I know…a few people have said that! I think I might have to start including pics of her more often…xx
@From Us I haven’t actually tried that but I’ll definitely look into it more, especially as it’s so cheap! Thanks for the heads-up xx
