I am completely in love with this shade as it’s a total antithesis to what we’re all supposed to wear now the sun is out (apologies if it goes away again like it did the last time I mentioned it on here) and instead contrasts everything bright and sunny. Obviously it’s much more of an Autumnal shade which means it’s arrival will be timed perfectly as it’s part of No7’s A/W Deco Darling collection.
Speakeasy is a very dark, gun-metal grey with the tiniest flecks of silver. I’m also about 90% sure that there are tiny flecks of bronze in there too, as when it catches certain lights it gives off a slightly bronze hue. For me, it’s very much a grown-up Goth look that I love against my pale skin. It’s easy to wear, flattering and it’s managed to stay a really dark and deep shade without heading too far into black.
I believe it’s going to be available late August (there are some really pretty things in the collection, have a look at my post if you fancy finding out more) along with another shade called Daisy Darling, which you can see in action over at BBB. I need to double-check, but if it’s the same price as Daisy Darling it’ll be a very reasonable £5.50.
I really wanted to try this out last night but I was pushed for time, so this is just one coat with a topcoat of Kensington Caviar. It went amazingly opaque after just the one coat, so two coats would only really be needed to add longevity rather than depth of colour. It’s safe to say my usual slap-dash application technique has made an appearance; and yes, my cuticles desperately need some help….
As you can probably tell, I’m a real fan of this shade and I think it will look especially good paired with Daisy Darling, so I might try that soon and report back.
Disclosure: PR Sample from the Boots Christmas press event.
I need this nail polish. Heck, I need practically everything from the Gatsby collection.
That’s exactly how I feel; I cant stop thinking about the eyeshadow palette! xx
What a nice colour! I am also into autumn-ish colour, this week I bought Essie’s Bahama Mamma and Nails Inc Porchester Square. Don’t know why though as I’m glad for Spring hahah!
I think Porchester Square can be worn in any season though 🙂 I know what you mean about being glad for Spring as I had some spring nail shades arrive today and I can’t wait to get them on my nails! xx
