Erm…so I haven’t been able to paint my own nails for quite some time; firstly due to morning sickness, then because my home was being decorated and it was impossible to find anything, so the consequence being that I seem to have lost the ability to paint neat nails, hence the tardy application in these pictures. Sorry about that!
Anyway…I knew I’d love Kensington High Street as it appeals to my desire to have vampy, red nails on the odd occasion that i fancy something a bit deeper and richer in shade. Strangely, Nails Inc Gel Effect Kensington High Street actually comes out a lot darker than I was expecting, and kind of heads into Nails Inc Victoria territory occasionally (have a look at my Nails Inc Victoria NOTD post here to get an idea of the shade), although whereas I’d describe Victoria as black shot through with red, I’d say this is red shot through with black, if that makes sense.
These pictures include one coat base coat (Nails Inc Caviar) and two coats of the Gel Effect polish. It is recommended that you apply a top coat – although I think that’s more for longevity rather than finish – but I wanted to show the finish of the polish itself. As you can see, it lives up to its Gel finish promise and applies to a very shiny, vinyl finish. I really like everything about the Gel Effect polishes, right from the concept itself to the bottles, so, as I said in my introductory post to the range (which you can view here along with swatches of the other shades), I really hope they expand the range to include more colours, as a bright, Barbie pink in this line would be amazing! Nails Inc Gel Effect in Kensington High Street is available now priced at £14.
