I realised fairly early on in my pregnancy that LFW SS14 would clash with my third trimester, and knowing how hard I’d found it last season (on my feet all day running from shows to events) I realised that actively partaking in it this season would be a bit unwise. Therefore, there will only be two posts regarding LFW for this season; this one and an *amazing* competition that I’ll be launching over the weekend, so keep an eye out for that!
Every LFW the lovely peeps at Handpicked hire out a suite at a gorgeous hotel and put on a couple of days worth of pampering for their beauty and fashion bloggers. I’ve been to two of these now, and it’s always a great way to catch up with fellow bloggers, find out more about both growing and established beauty and fashion brands and just generally chill out for a bit. It’s a very relaxed environment, and there’s usually some treatment areas set up for things like hand massages and nail painting sessions. It’s really good fun; this time around I intended to just pop in and say hello for maybe an hour, but almost 3 hours later I’m topping up my parking (I highly recommend downloading the Pay By Phone parking app!) as I finish off getting my nails painted by the fabulous NailGirls…so here’s a little look at how my visit to the Handpicked Media LFW suite went:
I started off by having a little look at the new offerings from underwear brand Freya, including their beautiful swimwear range above. I was also fitted for a bra, which was a bit tricky considering my boobs are going through a transitional period (which makes them sound a bit like they’re suffering from teen angst really doesn’t it?) but it was agreed that I was definitely in the wrong size bra…by about 4 cup sizes!! They very kindly agreed to send me a new maternity bra – since they’re one of the few brands who actually do attractive looking maternity/nursing wear rather than the default frumpy styles – so I’ll be sharing that with you when it arrives. Next up I paid a visit to HD Brows who gave me a quick tidy-up. They also filled in my brows with black (!!) pencil, before adding more definition with a light brown shade. The black pencil is designed to mimic the look of hair, which, if done correctly, looks incredibly natural and doesn’t look scary as you’d expect. Unfortunately the pictures I took of my brows were too blurry to upload, but it’s safe to say they looked a lot neater! We were given a couple of HD Brows products to take away with us including their new blusher and bronzer, both of which have been designed for post-treatment, as these are the two make-up products that HD Brow Technicians end up accidentally removing during treatment, so the smarties behind the brand thought it would make sense to add these products to their existing line so that customers can leave their treatment with the same make-up they arrived in. After my mini brow makeover, it was time to find out more about the new Osiris line for Specsavers from designer Jørgen Simonsen. The range is huge and covers every kind of glasses style you can think of, so if you’re in the market for some gorgeous new frames then have a look at the full range here – link.
Anna Lou of London was probably my favourite brand from the day. It’s a stunning range of jewellery that contains everything from fun, colour-pop pieces in funky neons and pastels, to beautiful bespoke metals available in a choice of rose gold, standard gold or silver. I absolutely love pretty much everything I saw in this range; you have to admit, it’s a bit gorgeous isn’t it? Anna Lou has offered to engrave a piece for me when my Little Man is born, so watch this space as I will definitely be showing that off when it arrives! I finished off my day with a manicure with the NailGirls, who were all sporting some seriously funky nail art. They gave me a stripey pink manicure that reminded me of raspberry swirl ice cream! Interestingly, the focus of NailGirls is nail art, and their speciality is creating new and novel nail art designs for each customer. They also have a pretty fab range of varnishes and treatments, so if you’re unfamiliar with the brand then I recommend heading over to their site to find out more here – link.
There we have it! Another lovely day of new brands and pampering, courtesy of Handpicked Media. I look forward to the return of the suite next season.
