There are two new brushes arriving to form part of the hugely successful Real Techniques range this month, the Retractable Kabuki Brush and the Retractable Bronzer Brush. For those who are unfamiliar (I can’t imagine there’s many of you!) Real Techniques are an extremely well-received range of make-up brushes from YouTube Gurus the Pixiwoo sisters. The brand initially started with just one of the sisters – Sam Chapman – but Nic recently got involved, so now the range is created utilising the talent of both sisters.
The two new brushes are both travel-friendly and retractable, and are housed in sturdy packaging which I would guess would make these very long-lasting. The Bronzer Brush is extremely soft and can be used for either bronzer or finishing powder. I’ve actually used it to buff in foundation which worked really well too, although only for a light coverage.
The Kabuki Brush is my favourite of the two as it’s incredibly dense (whilst being equally soft – I find all Real Technique brushes very soft and kind to skin) and I like the fact that it’s multi-use; it can be used for bronzers, powders and blushers, but I would put money on this being absolutely amazing for buffing in mineral foundation, although I haven’t had a chance to try that out yet as my skin is a bit too dry at the moment for powder foundation.
The design of the retractable element of the brushes is really well thought out, as one thing I’ve always found very frustrating about retractable brushes is the fact that a lot of the bristles get caught in the lid and repositioned, giving the brush quite a limited shelf life. As you can hopefully see in the pictures above, the pull out casing fits the brush head perfectly making it quick and easy to position the lid correctly without catching any of the bristles.
The Real Techniques Retractable Bronzer Brush forms part of the Flawless Base range and retails for £12.99. The Real Techniques Retractable Kabuki Brush is an addition to the Perfect Finish range and retails for £11.99. Both are due to land this month so expect to see them at Boots any day now. I feel like the plastic lid would crack if I were to put it in with my luggage >.<
