Mother’s Day Ideas

In a few short days I’ll be experiencing Mother’s Day as someone who has a mum and someone who is a mum for the first time! I’ve dropped some pretty obvious hints to Teddy, so hopefully he’ll pick up on them and get me what I want.  Teddy, if you’re reading this, it is neither a drool-soaked bib nor a heavily gummed tissue that I’m hoping for.

To start with we have the first of two Jo Malone releases, the Mother’s Day Floral Box which is a Mother’s Day take on their beautiful Valentine’s Day Floral box (which I didn’t get, BY THE WAY) and contains a stunning bouquet of glorious fresh flowers plus a 100ml cologne of choice, making this a seriously pretty gift that gives your mum the best of both worlds; flowers and perfume.  It’s £120 and an exclusive from the Sloane Street boutique until Sunday, so you’ve got time to get stuck in. Next up is a bit of pampering from my favourite London salon, Adamina Spa.  I am loooong overdue a visit here – I actually had Teddy’s dad all primed and ready to book me in for their pregnancy package but for inexplicable reasons it didn’t happen – and I will be booking in for a pedicure with them soon, so I can sip lattes and watch Sex and the City whilst they tend to my tootsies; favourite pedicure ever! They offer various types of packages (you don’t have to get the Mother’s Day package and could go for one of the others) to suit all budgets, so they’re definitely worth checking out.  Head here – link – for their package info.

Now on to what I’ve asked Teddy for, although I’m not holding my breath as he is only 5 months old (as of today!) but you never know.  It’s a posh foundation, or specifically, the much raved about Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer which I’ve been wanting for quite some time now, I just need to find a few minutes to pop into Space NK to get shade matched.  Obviously I’m not suggesting you get this particular foundation for your mum, but a posh bit of make-up is always a lovely gift, so maybe something from By Terry or even Bobbi Brown.

Here’s the next of the Jo Malone mentions, which is a London Rain fragrance that I just had to include as it’s limited edition and absolutely gorgeous.  Any of the four colognes would be fab (and you could include one in the floral box above) but I’ve rather randomly chosen the Rain & Angelica scent, with the logic being that it’s probably the lightest and most ‘mum-friendly’ of the four.  My favourite and my current daily scent, the Wisteria & Violet is also a good choice.  Check out London Rain here – link.

Last up is some more pampering, but this time home-based from Milk Beauty (who cover London) who came to visit me last year and gave me a pedicure (I do love me a good pedicure!) and manicure and it all happened in the comfort of my own home which I think would make a fantastic Mother’s Day gift.  You could put together a few treatments and book mum an evening in, how fab would that be?
