I’ve been having a play with these Clearasil Rapid Action products over the past few weeks with mixed results, although I will say that my view of Clearasil has changed a bit, so I’m glad I gave them a go. The Rapid Action Pads are slightly rough texture that allows mild exfoliation. The Rapid Action Deep Pore Treatment Toner is, as it sounds, a liquid toner that you use after make-up removal/cleansing to lift as much spot-causing dirt as possible.
Out of the two, I’d say the pads are my favourite as I like the exfoliating feel of them. The toner is also fine, but the main issue for me is that my skin isn’t young enough to handle such harsh products any more; you need extremely oily skin to be able to recover from using these and as I no longer have very oily skin, my skin dried out severely and was left looking and feeling very dehydrated. Therefore I had to compensate with thick, heavy moisturisers which of course then produced more spots. I’m sure if I had stuck with it a little longer and found the right moisturiser then the results would’ve been a little better, but my painful, dry and spotty skin was not happy so I had to move on!
I would say both of these products are worth a go if you have young skin that is spot prone, but be sure to find a moisturiser that works well with your skin first and DO NOT skip on this essential step, otherwise your skin will overcompensate and your skin problems will worsen. I’d say that the occasional use of either of these is okay, but don’t use them daily and pay careful attention to your skin. Both products are available now, the pads are £5.39 – link – and the toner is £5.29 – link.
