Through various sendouts and events, I’ve amassed what can only be described as a collection of at home laser devices, most of which are designed to reduce or remove body hair. When these machines first started becoming popular I couldn’t have been less interested as they sounded like a lot of uncomfortable – possibly even painful – faff that was waaaay too time-consuming; I figured I’d just stick with a shave a couple of times a week and that’d do it.
Cue the end of last week when I came across my Philips Lumea Precision Plus device whilst having a tidy-up (yes, I do clean occasionally) and thought to myself ‘why not?’ I stand fully corrected as I can’t believe how easy it is to use; you literally just point and shoot…You line up the device until the light on the back comes on, then you press the flash and off the laser goes. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can hold the flash down so it’ll then go off as soon as you’ve lined it up correctly making the whole process extremely speedy. I started on the level 3 but after 2 shots I went up to 5 and I can honestly say that the pain is minimal and virtually untraceable; the only time it hurt was when I stupidly did it over one of my larger beauty spots and I certainly felt it, but honestly, if you’re worried about the pain of these devices then worry not as coming from someone who has very little fat on my legs (due to my disability) if it’s going to hurt anyone, it’d be me.
The Precision Plus comes with two heads; one for larger areas and one for smaller, but I didn’t feel the need to move over to the smaller one for my underarms, although I’m guessing that’s a matter of personal choice. As you flash the device it leaves a little red outline from the casing (not the best way to describe it but hopefully you get what I mean) which leaves a mark just long enough for you to line up the next flash, so as long as you follow some sort of pattern – I started at the ankle and went up to the knee then across and back down again – it’ll be very easy to cover the whole area without putting much effort or thought into it. Consequently I did both lower legs and my underarms in less than 20 minutes. Obviously the jury is still well and truly out as to whether this will reduce my hair growth as I’ve only used it once – just a few days ago – and it takes a while to do its thing, but I will happily report back with my results soon. It’s safe to say I’m extremely impressed with the Philips Lumea as it’s so easy and comfortable to use and I’m actually really (weirdly) looking forward to my next treatment! I’ll be adding my bikini line to the routine soon, so I’ll let you know how I get on. More info can be found here – link.

Anything that reduces the time spent going to and from Salons is a plus in my book. I have always been a bit scared of this type of technology but this seems quite straight forward – and quick. Must check it out.
It’s seriously so easy; I was so surprised! xx
