More loveliness today from the explosive Makeup Revolution; explosive because they’ve gone from non-existent to pretty much everywhere you look in an extremely short space of time, and for good reason! If you’re reading my blog it’s because you’re a beauty fan, or my dad (hi dad), so chances are you’ll already know what the Makeup Revolution is, but if you’re unsure or fancy a reminder then check out my introductory post here.
Amazing Care Lipstick #happylips are the brand’s answer to lip butters, but with a bit of a twist. The pigment is placed in the centre of an outer case of Argan Oil, meaning you’re getting a big hit of hydration alongside brilliant colour. The colour itself is also quite buttery, so you’re left with a richly moisturising lipstick with a glossy sheen that’s very flattering.
Makeup Revolution Amazing Care Lipstick #happylips are currently available in five shades, although knowing how the brand are constantly releasing newbies, chances are there will be more shades along soon. The five shades are Love A Hug (pinky red), Love Pink! (pink, surprisingly), Love Red! (shockingly it’s red), Love Nude! (can you guess?) Electric Love (bright pink).
The three shades I have are Love a Hug, Love Nude! and Electric Love. The nude is fine although a bit too brown for me – I like nudes as long as they lean towards a certain colour like pink or peach – but it would work really well with a tan or that all-over bronze, sun-kissed look.
Love A Hug is a very flattering pinky red shade that I think most people could wear (#)happily, plus it’s a fabulous summer colour. Even though my favourite of the three is the pink, I’d say if you’re only trying one then make it Love A Hug as it’s such a lovely colour to wear on dress-down days.
Electric Love is a beautiful pink shade that I just couldn’t possibly not love; it’s bright and vibrant but still girly and feminine, and the glossy finish makes it extremely flattering too. I love this sort of pink with a slick of liner and polished skin, but then I say that about a lot of lip colours I think! I just love that look…
I’m extremely pleased that none of the Amazing Care Lipstick #happylips contain shimmer (from what I can tell – certainly my three don’t) as it would’ve been such an easy cop-out to add a load of shimmer to these kind of lipsticks. Instead they’re glossy, pretty, fun and functional; they really do leave lips feeling soft and treated. If I had to complain about anything – and it really is a bit of a push – I’d say the packaging is a bit tacky and cheap. However, the lid is see-through which makes finding your shade nice and easy, plus they seem fairly sturdy, but for a measly £3 a pop it would *insane* to try and moan about anything with these. You can find all five shades here – link – and don’t forget to check out their “new” page to see some gorgeous new palettes.
