There are some absolutely gorgeous new arrivals from Smashbox this season, some of which I’ve been lucky enough to have a play with recently, so let’s have a little look at what’s new.
First up we have the Full Exposure Waterproof Mascara, which, as the name suggests, is a waterproof version of the popular Full Exposure Mascara. I’ve led with this as it’s the only product I haven’t tried due to the fact that I avoid waterproof mascaras like the plague unless I’m going on holiday (not likely to be happening this year, what with new baby ‘n’ all) but other reviews appear to be positive and it’s available now here – link – for £18.
Next is the Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes which is a multi-functional liquid under-eye concealer. Smashbox are a brand who get the whole BB approach and realise that to add it to the name of a product, it really needs to perform a multitude of functions. The BB Cream Eyes is best described as a strong tint rather than a full-blown concealer which I personally like as I’m not a big fan of removing the colour from the under eye completely as I think that can look a bit odd. For me, this worked brilliantly to reduce the blue just enough to make me look well-slept which is exactly what I’m after. It’s wonderfully hydrating, it stays in place whilst also correcting dark circles over time. Lastly, it contains an SPF15; you see it really is a BB product! It’s available in five shades here – link – for £19, and my shade is Fair.
We have a BB for the eyes and now a CC for the face too! The newest face base release from Smashbox is the Camera Ready CC Cream which is also a dark spot correcting treatment, plus an SPF30. I like the fact that they mention post-acne marks as one of the things this bad boy can correct as it certainly encourages me to use it more. It also supplies surprisingly decent coverage and I’d put it at medium; if you have skin like mine you’ll need a concealer on top, but it does state that it’s a great primer for other foundations. It’s available in eight shades here – link – for £29 and again I’m Fair.
I’ve really saved the best ’til last as I am extremely excited about these and I can see myself adding quite a few to my collection; may I introduce you to the new Be Legendary Lipgloss which are fantastically pigmented yet light available in 16 gorgeous shades. Smashbox have improved the production process by starting with a non-sticky, binder-free clear base, then slowly adding pigment which apparently results in much sharper colour whilst maintaining a light finish. The result is a gorgeously buildable finish with glass-like gloss and free from any stickiness. The shade above is Coquette which is a beautiful, bubblegum pink that I am currently obsessed with. If you can’t be bothered with much make-up, a slick of mascara and this shade of gloss is all you need! These are available now here – link – for £15 a pop. Is it just me or is that quite a good price for a luxury lipgloss? I’m slightly fascinated by the Black-Tied gloss which is a sheer, shimmery black sparkle. Don’t forget the Santigold collection is also available now, which you can read more about in my post here.
