Regular readers will know that I’m rather snowed under with skincare at the moment – not that I’m complaining as I do love skincare – however, there’s still quite a few products that I’ve been anxious to try and/or feature, so I’ve enlisted the help of friends and family to share their thoughts on various products. First up is the Merumaya Iconic Youth Serum which is the breakthrough product from the Merumaya range. It’s a serum designed to deliver a multitude of benefits to facial skin such as strengthening the skin barrier (very important for spot sufferers), reduce fine lines and wrinkles and increase hydration levels. I’m calling this a dual review as I’ll be briefly sharing my thoughts, but the main review is courtesy of a family friend. I didn’t think it would be appropriate for me to write an individual review as I’ve only used this a few times, but I will say I’m extremely impressed by how quickly it delivers on hydrating and balancing my skin – I’m actually quite annoyed that I can’t slot it into my current routine. One thing I will say is that I’m a little disappointed that Dimethicone appears so highly in the ingredients list since it’s a renowned ingredient for upsetting spot-prone skin types, so tread carefully if you don’t do well with Dimethicone. Having said that, I’ve used it a few times and haven’t found that it makes my spots any worse, in fact to the contrary, after use my skin felt smoother, clearer, hydrated and spots definitely healed more quickly. On the plus side, this also works as an amazing base for make-up so it’s a real winner from me.
Now on to the more comprehensive review, which comes from Patricia who is in her fifties and has spot-prone, combination skin. Here are her thoughts on the Merumaya Iconic Youth Serum:
I am delighted to be able to review this gorgeous product. Although not young (I have seen almost three 21’s go by), I still have troubled skin and am always a little sceptical about the plethora of ‘miracle’ products which appear on the market. This one however, is genuinely different.
The first thing that you notice is that you really only have to use one squirt of the pump to get enough product to easily cover all of your face and neck. How many times have I heard ‘you only need a little’ only to find that I am dragging the cream over my face in a desperate attempt to get even the minimum of coverage. ‘What’s wrong with me?’ I think, ‘Is my face bigger than everybody else’s!’
But this serum is different, it glides effortlessly with a silky smoothness, and within seconds is completely absorbed, leaving your skin feeling soothed, calm and protected. And, it has the most divine smell which takes its feel good factor onto a higher plane.
I have been using this serum both night and morning for about ten days now. When I began I had some horrid acne blemishes on my cheek, one of which had been there for almost six months. But within this relatively short time there has been a marked improvement, the scars have not completely disappeared, but they have faded to such an extent that they are no longer visible when I am wearing my usual makeup. And the added bonus is that my skin looks plumper, clearer, and more radiant, and the fine lines on my face have been smoothed away.
This product is described by the manufacturer as ‘an exclusive complex of ten active ingredients at full concentration that makes this uniquely formulated serum an essential part of every skincare routine.’ I would not disagree. It does exactly what it says on the box!
Irrespective of your age, I would definitely recommend it. It has a protective rejuvenative effect which is amazing. I only wish that it had been available years ago!
