I’m slightly late to the game with this month’s Birchbox post, so apologies for the delay! The Birchbox August 2014 contents focuses on holiday essentials, with five products all housed in a lovely holiday-themed clear plastic pouch. There”s a good selection in the August 2014 Birchbox, although only one is full-sized, so some subscribers might be unhappy about that.
Due to the success of the last promo code, I’ve got another one for you to give you £5 off this month’s box, so scroll to the bottom to find out more about that if you fancy taking advantage. Here’s a look at the Birchbox August 2014 contents in order of my favourites:
First up we have the Wild About Beauty Creme Eyeshadow in Buster (o3) which is a really lovely warm bronze shade that’ll look especially fab on blue eyes. It’s a dense, thick formula with a tiny bit of shimmer that’s buildable, so you could wear a sheer sweep or build it up for a stronger look. I can see myself using this quite a bit, plus it’s an ideal holiday product as it can be quickly slicked over the lids with a finger for quick holiday make-up, so this is a great inclusion. It’s full-sized and worth £13.
The Nude Progenius Omega Treatment Oil couldn’t arrive at a better time since my skin is rather parched at the moment, plus it always responds really well to Omega oils. The included sample is rather dinky at just 5ml, but that should give you about a week’s worth of daily treatments which will hopefully give you an insight into how your skin responds to the product. Full sized this is £58.
A good base that’s easy to apply is a holiday essential, so it makes sense that they’ve included one in this holiday box. The Supergoop Daily Correct SPF35 CC Cream is a light to medium coverage and SPF in one, so it’s great for quick make-up. The box included two 3ml bottles and full-sized this is £32.
I always come back with dry hair from my holidays as I never remember to protect it in the sun. The Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect is a leave-in conditioning spray that protects from heat and sun damage, so it’s probably the most essential holiday beauty item in this box. It’s a fairly decent sized 30ml sample, so it should easily last you a week or two away. Full sized this is £20.
Last we have the Liaison De Parfum EDP which is so gorgeously packaged in an envelope style pouch. There are four variants – Resist Me, Stay With Me, I Dare You or No Matter What – and I received I Dare You. The reason this is last on my list is because it’s just not my sort of smell at all; it reminds me of the sort of scent I used to smell on women at my Grandma’s OAP home, so it’s not really the sort of scent I’d pick for myself, but let’s not forget that scent is such a personal thing, so even though this isn’t my sort of thing, you might love it. The sample was 2ml and full sized this is £105.
As you can see, it’s a great selection of products, all of which are luxury items that would be extremely useful on holiday. Man do I fancy a holiday now! Anyway…if you fancy getting yourself in on this month’s action then I have a £5 code for you – BBX5BEAUTYGEEK – that’ll give you all of the above for a mere £7.95 (including P+P!) which is a serious bargain. You haven’t got long to take advantage, just until the 28th August 2014 and you have to be a new subscriber, but you don’t have to commit (so you can just have this month’s box if you like) and the way to look at it is you’re getting a £13 Wild About Beauty eye shadow for less than £8 plus a load of other gorgeous goodies! Do you see how the justifying mind of a beauty addict works…? Head to Birchbox here – link – to subscribe and enjoy.

This looks like a great box! Especially loving the Nude sample! I’ve had one of those samples from Space NK and they last a surprisngly long time. Just saving up for a full size now 🙂 x
It’s funny with oils as you get teeny tiny vials that last forever! xx
I had the same box. Is it me or does it seem like BB have got their mojo back?
Definitely! Although I’ve been lucky in that my first box was that amazing box for the World Cup which was fantastic, so I haven’t experienced anything too bad, although I’ve read reviews on previous boxes that weren’t great xx
