You may remember I posted about my favourite Breast Cancer Awareness products in October that included the bareMinerals lipgloss in shade Survivor which I said I’d follow up with a review, so here it is! The minute this lipgloss arrived I knew I’d love it as it’s the sort of easy, pretty pink shade that I always deviate towards.
bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Survivor is a mid pink with a slight hint of milkiness and in certain lights it has an almost holographic effect, showing slightly different pinks; however, this effect is very mild and really not obvious, but it just adds a bit of depth to the colour which is mostly a very traditional and wearable pink.
The thing I like least about the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie range is the heavy mint scent and flavour. It makes lips tingle which is no bad thing, although if you’re not a fan of this then you’ll need to swatch first to see if you get on with it, but the main issue for me is that I really don’t like anything mint flavoured; ever since my pregnancy, even the idea of anything mint flavoured makes my tummy turn. I can just about handle toothpaste and I like actual mints, just nothing mint flavoured! Having said that, even though the mint flavouring in this lipgloss is pretty strong, it’s such a pretty shade that I put up with it to no ill effect.
It’s a typical lipgloss in that it needs plenty of reapplication and won’t stay put for long. It’s buildable which is great as one coat shows a sheer hint of pink, whereas more builds it up to a stronger pop. This is the sort of pink that’s well worth adding to your collection as it’s the right side of nude so it looks beautifully with smokey eyes or any kind of strong eye, but it also pulls together a natural, polished look which is what I went for in the image above. It’s a very pretty pink that’s quickly become a favourite of mine and I’m pleased to see it’s still in stock for £16 here – link.
