January 2015! Can you believes it? The Birchbox January 2015 (!!) box is an interesting one; it’s contents will prove to be divisive as there are quite a few dinky samples making it appear a tad sparse. Having said that, there are some goodies worth getting excited about.
The January 2015 Birchbox is in collaboration with Women’s Health, meaning it has a bit of a healthy spin to it which is very well timed for a January drop. The box contains six samples plus one additional lifestyle sample. Here’s a closer look in order of my favourites:
First up is the product I think most people will get excited about, which is the full-sized Stila Lip Glaze. The shade I received is Gleam – a milky pink shot through with sparkle – but I’m not sure if we’ll all be getting the same shade or not. The next on my favourites is the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum, which I’m looking forward to trying as I do like Caudalie, plus I have a slot open in my skincare routine for a good serum. The sample included is 10ml.
I really rate HealGel products so I’m happy to see HealGel Body included in the January 2015 Birchbox. The only reason it’s a little lower on the list than you might expect is because it’s a tiny 5ml sample! This would be bad enough as a face product, but really how far is 5ml of product going to go on the body? The next on the list is the Philip Kingsley Body Building Conditioner. Another awesome brand but if you don’t have the shampoo to match then in my mind it’s a bit of a waste. The conditioner is a fairly decent 20ml size.
Unless it’s beautifully fragranced or intensely moisturising, I struggle to get excited about a shower gel, so the inclusion of Activbod Feel Great Shower Concentrate isn’t going to do much for me. It’s quite a nice, zesty fragrance and it’s ideal for any gym goers, but I can’t see myself using it. Next up is the tea; I can’t seem to open a beauty box lately without a teabag falling out of it, but at least this one is something different to TeaPigs! It’s an Embrace Match Green Tea bag which is apparently a popular superfood that provides 10 times the antioxidants of regular green tea – a good one for the new year, albeit hard to get excited about. Lastly we have the Birchbox Pilates Band, which I’ve put at the bottom as I’m lazy and probably won’t use this. However, it’s quite a nifty inclusion for anyone hoping to get fit in 2015 as it looks like quite an easy product to include in your daily routine.
There we have it! The Birchbox January 2015 contents reviewed on the last day of 2014. As I said, I think some will love this whereas others won’t, but ain’t that always the way with a beauty box? For more info on Birchbox, head here – link.
