The excitement over contouring is showing no signs of waning which is no bad thing since it’s a great and relatively easy make-up skill to acquire. I think 2015 will see it all go a few steps further with a fully contoured face involving very few products to add shadow and light on the face, eyes, brows and lips. Clinique have released a contouring extension to the well-loved Chubby Stick range with two new products, the Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour in Curvy Contour and the Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight in Hefty Highlight.
As you’d expect and in true Chubby Stick style, these are cream formulas in a chunky, wind-up stick that’s incredibly easy to use. The Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight is a gently shimmering, silvery, ever-so-slightly pink-leaning highlight that’s very natural and very, very pretty.
The Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour is a warm, deep brown shade that is too warm for a truly natural finish – if you think of contouring as creating shadows on your skin, brown is not the colour the shadow turns! – however, it’s just a great and blendable formula that it works well for adding definition. I’m hoping they’ll extend the line further to include more shades as that would be amazing; the fact that each product already has a shade name (Curvy Contour and Hefty Highlight) suggest there will be more, so fingers crossed!
Both the Chubby Stick Sculpting products are a total dream to use. They apply easily and evenly and buff into skin seamlessly. They sheer out like a great cream product, yet stay in place like a powder, so the formula is top notch. The great thing about this kind of formula is that it gives you a lot more choice; you can apply it heavily under base or blend it over foundation depending on your preferred finish.
I like to use contouring to shorten the length of my face and add a bit more width as well as define cheekbones and narrow my nose. I go for a very natural finish and I don’t think I’ll ever be the type who does that sharp, angled contour look that Kim Kardashian got everyone trying, but you could definitely give that a go with the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting products. A good buffing brush makes life a lot easier, but as the cream finish blends so well you can just as easily do it with your fingers. I’ve always favoured powder for contouring but these have really made a big difference as they are so quick to use; I have everything crossed that Clinique will add more colours to the line as if they add something ashier I will be on it the minute it lands! The Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour and Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight launch on the 6th February 2015 for £19 each. I’ll also be posting about their new Sculptionary Cheek Contouring Pallet soon, so keep an eye out for that too.

Mmm I’m not sure about the countouring shade. I think it would be too warm and dark for me. But the highlighting one looks very pretty. And, hopefully, they will add more shades soon.
It is a very warm shade, however, I am extremely pale – always the palest shade in foundation – and I wouldn’t say it’s too dark for me, just too warm xx
This duo sound great & even better for a contouring novice like me. I need a fool proof product & these sound like just the thing

They are great for starting out as if you make a mistake you can blend it right down and start again xx
