Over the last 6 month or so I’ve really got into brows; I take a lot more care of them than I used to and I use more products to help keep them looking neat, tidy and defined – even on low maintenance make-up days I’ll still work a bit of powder or brow mascara through them to give them a bit of a lift and it really does make a huge difference to the overall finish. Rather randomly I spotted the Silk Fibre Brow Enhancer in Boots and thought I really should put the word out to see what people’s experiences of the product had been before I was sent the press release a couple of days later, so I got to experience it for myself.
The Silk Fibre Brow Enhancer is a dense, coloured powder that works to add definition and density to brows. It’s a very thick product that can be a little messy when you pull out the wand, so it’s worth keeping a tissue beneath it too catch any stray filaments. It’s available in 4 shades (I’m the lightest – Silk Latte) and a bottle will last 120 applications, so it’s good value at just under £20. I read the reviews on this before trying it and a lot of people said that even the lightest shade was too dark. The thing to keep in mind is that it comes out as a very thick product but you do have time to sheer it out, giving you a few options depending on how you like your brows.
Apologies for the state of me in these pictures – it was the end of a long day and my make-up had pretty much disappeared altogether! Having had a few plays with it, I’ve concluded there are three ways to use the Silk Fibre Brow Enhancer. Firstly, if you like statement brows then apply it directly from the wand, fill in the gaps of your brows and generally create a shape with the wand. It’s an easy thing to do and it creates serious definition as you can see in the picture above. I was really impressed with just how easy this look was to achieve and it lasts too.
The second way to use it is to apply it as above, filling in gaps and adding definition, then use a brow spoolie to break it down and sheer it out so it looks a lot less harsh and more natural. Again this is easy to do as you have a couple of minutes before it sets in place. Lastly, if you just want a very natural enhancement you can tip out the product on to the back of your hand and use an angled brush to pick up the product and apply it where you need it. This gives a very light definition and is great for no make-up make-up days. My favourite is the middle one – applied directly and then sheered out as it gives such a great effect as you can see in the image above. Once in place it lasts really well – no smearing or fading at all – yet thankfully it also comes off easily with cleanser. It’s safe to say this is a really great brow product that does exactly as it says on the tin, doesn’t cost the earth and lasts really well too. The Silk Fibre Brow Enhancer is available now for £19.99 from Boots here – link.
