Here we have the very product I’ve been waiting for all my adult life. A foundation that’s easy to apply, blends beautifully, covers like nothing I’ve ever seen before and leaves a healthy dewy finish. The Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer is nothing short of amazing and it was almost like a magic trick when I applied it; I dotted it around my face using the lipgloss-like brush applicator wand, before buffing it in with a stippling brush and LITERALLY watching my spots and pigmentation disappear before my very eyes. Seriously, this is astounding! I think this is a genius concept as you apply it as a foundation all over, before spot-concealing any areas that need extra help. It’s very easy to layer, so those with extremely difficult skin will do well with this. However, there is a big ol’ catch…
I was sent the lightest shade which is Alabaster and it’s far too dark for me. I’m talking comically dark – I look like I have no idea what I’m doing with make-up as I’d say it’s 2, possibly even 3 shades too dark for me. This is truly upsetting (I kid you not) as everything about this foundation is impressive. It feels light and hydrating on the skin yet the coverage is phenomenal and all I’ve ever wanted is a foundation that I could quickly apply in the style of a tinted moisturiser, that would blend easily yet cover everything that needs covering, and here it is!
I’m definitely not the palest person you could ever meet so and I’ve never struggled with Clinique foundation shades before, so I’m hoping enough people will complain about the fact that there aren’t enough pale shades out of the 20 strong line-up and the brand will add on some paler shades. Please Clinique, I’m begging you; make it happen! The Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer is £25 and available now here – link. For reference, I think if you’re around a MAC25 or darker then you’ll be able to find your perfect match. And I will hate you.

It’s so, so, SO annoying 🙁 xx
Bought this couple of days ago in Ivory, and I look like I’ve been tangoed. And normally a Neutral in Clinique for my medium fair skin tone. Totally agree, great foundation, rubbish shades for lighter skin tones. What gives?
Quite a few people have said that now! Isn’t it frustrating? I hope enough people complain so they sort it out as the product itself is incredible. I’m wondering if it’s something to do with the intense pigmentation? I’ve never had an issue with colour-matching with them before, so it’s very strange xx
I can just about get away with the palest shade of this.. It might just finally tempt me away from double wear. My delinquent skin needs a full coverage & this is such a lovely finish. I am on the pale side of medium and of the lightest shade is ok for me loads of people wouldn’t be able to use this. Clinque are missing out on so many potential sales.
I couldn’t agree more – I’m so surprised they haven’t released paler shades and I really hope they update the shade range soon as it is an amazing foundation; I can easily see it being my Holy Grail finish if they do release a shade that doesn’t leave me looking like an Oompa Loompa xx
The only other thing about this is the applicator wand.. Not sure I like it. For hygeine I’d prefer a pump
That’s a good point actually, I hadn’t thought of that! I suppose it’s a lot like the similar concealer wands, but again there are hygiene issues with those too xx
Totally… Put it on the face & then back in the bottle.. Could cause a problem xx
Hi Sascha. Clinique have introduced a few more shades now – have you tried them? I need to go into town to swatch Breeze (shade 0.5) l which looks like a good match for me but Clinique foundation is ALWAYS too dark for me so I’m not risking by buying online! xx
Hi Laurie,
Thanks so much for your comment. I did post about them actually as Breeze is my perfect match, thankfully! It’s really strange as the Clinque foundations used to be a great match for me, but recently their new releases seem really dark…either that or I’m getting paler! Breeze is well worth a swatch xx
