When I was growing up, my local chemist was where I did most of my beauty perving, and amongst many other brands, they stocked Mavala. I remember eyeing the dinky little bottles and thinking how much I wanted all the pinks…so clearly my tastes haven’t developed at all in the last 20 years, as I still look at new collections and want all the pinks.
Those halcyon days have long since passed and I’ll be honest and say that I hadn’t really given Mavala another thought since then, mostly because they’re not stocked anywhere near me that I know of, but that all changed when I saw the Garden Party nail colours – honestly, would you just look at those shades? Six colours, all of which sit somewhere on the pink spectrum and all of which I would happily wear on a daily basis.
The six colours are, from left to right: Jasmin – a pale, baby pink; Begonia, a deep rose pink; Freesia – an orange-leaning coral; Petunia – a bright blue-leaning pink; Iris – a creamy lilac; Hortensia – an orange-leaning pink. Do you see why I love them so? There is no point in me even trying to pick a favourite, but it’s safe to say that since they arrived in my life, there hasn’t been a single day when a colour hasn’t featured on either my fingers or toes (currently sporting Hortensia on my toes) and I don’t think I’ve ever known a collection where I’ve loved every single shade. The best part is that these are lovely and cheap at £4.25 per bottle here – link.
