Who can say no to a Clinique Cheek Pop? They’re pretty much everything you could want from a make-up item; a pretty and flattering product in a joyful yet practical package – they are so utterly lovely, so I’m thrilled new shades are being added, and I’ve been having a play with two of them, Melon Pop and Pink Pop.
Melon Pop and Pink Pop are very summery shades as both have pink undertones and they’re probably both better suited to those who are on the paler side, which of course is great for me since I am extremely pale.
You’d think with the names that I would’ve favoured Pink Pop, but actually, out of the two, I’m reaching more for Melon Pop. I think it’s because it’s a colour more suited to a light tan, whereas Pink Pop is ideal for an English Rose paled-out complexion.
In the picture above, I’m wearing Melon Pop with a bronzer – apologies for the shiny face, apparently I remembered bronzer but forgot to powder and I’ve used a very dewy finish foundation, as you can most definitely see! Melon Pop is a gentle, peachy pink shade that most light to medium skin tones would suit I think.
Next up there’s Pink Pop, which is actually a surprisingly bright shade that can be sheered out or built-up. As I said, I think this works best with a very pale skin, but as it can be built-up to a brighter pop of pink, it might work on darker skin tones too.
There will also be a limited edition Rosy Pop shade coming out which I’m looking forward to seeing swatches of. The initial four-colour line-up of Clinique Cheek Pops were very autumnal, so I’m loving these extremely summery colours – just looking at them makes me happy! They’re arriving near the end of next month for £16.50 a pop. In the meantime you can check out the original line-up here – link.
