Woo! A hair styling product that does exactly as it promises and really does keep hair styled and in place, even after a night of sleep. The Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer Treatment Cream (catchy) is a really lovely product that’s designed to add a bit more hold to your hair, without weighing it down or making it greasy – the latter of which I think is especially important to mention as so many of these smoothing, holding treatments leave hair feeling and looking a bit greasy, and if you’re like me and prone to oily roots as it is, you’ll likely be sceptical of a product like this, but I’ve used it pretty much every wash since I got it and not once has it given me greasy roots.
If you use a hairdryer or heat styler with any regularity then this is an essential for your kit, as not only does it provide the aforementioned styling aspects, it also protects hair from heat up to 230 degrees, plus it also reduces drying time…and it really does! I’ve been reaching for my Babyliss Big Hair a lot recently, which is a hair dryer and styler in one – and it takes me about 10 minutes to do my whole head, whereas it used to take at least 20, so it roughly cuts time in half. What’s great about the Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer Treatment Cream (blimey, that really is a long name) is that it adds a smoothness and glossy finish to hair whilst still allowing hair to look natural and move freely; you don’t feel “product-y” at all and, after a good blow dry, hair has that post-salon “swish” that’s usually quite a struggle to achieve at home. The bottle itself is a one-handed pump-action, and you’re advised to use two pumps, although I find one does the job on my hair, but keep in mind I have a short and not especially thick bob, so longer, thicker hair will need more. Lastly, this also promises to strengthen hair, which is the final winning element to an all-round great product. I honestly didn’t think this would be the sort of thing that would work with my hair, but it’s truly fab and provides everything I Need from a pre-drying cream. It’s £17 here – link.
