In October last year I received the YSL Black Opium EDT (original review here) which I fell head over heels in love with for the fact that it’s the ultimate confidence booster in a spray; it’s a really powerful, sexy fragrance that makes me feel instantly upbeat and capable – it really is a total mood booster, so much so, that I actually keep a bottle in the glove compartment of my car!
My original love of YSL Black Opium still remains, so I was very excited to receive three more bottles to share with you in time for Christmas; the original Black Opium EDT, the EDP and the Nuit Blanche, making my Opium collection now pretty impressive! It’s worth pointing out that I’ve held on to all bottles, which rarely happens when I amass a collection, but these are such brilliant, empowering fragrances that it would feel wrong to not keep hold of them all.
YSL Black Opium is sexy, seductive and very well suited to night time wear, although the particularly confident could wear it during the day too. If you like heady, moody scents that make you feel the need to slick your hair pack and dig out deep berry shades of vinyl lipgloss, Black Opium is for you. If you really want to make an impact, the Black Opium EDP packs even more of a powerful punch, and of course the beautiful, vampy black glitter bottles add to the overall appeal.
YSL Black Opium Nuit Blanche is a slightly more day-friendly scent (my original review is here) that still holds on to that vampy, sexy, confidence-boosting element, but with fresher notes that allow for wear any time, day or night. I honestly can’t tell you which one to try (normally at this point I’d start a sentence with “if you can only try one…”) as they are all so lovely and really assets to any kind of perfume collection. I wanted to get this post in well before Christmas as a bottle of any of these three would make an amazing Christmas gift. Find the full collection at YSL here – link – with prices starting at £47.

Hi Sascha,
Really interested to see your review of the Opium. I am a huge fan of the original Opium, how do the two compare??
Thanks.
