I absolutely love Aveda skincare, but I have a slightly more unpredictable relationship with Aveda haircare, so I kept an open mind for the recently launched Aveda Texture Tonic, a styling product that promises to add a soft and hydrated hit of tousled texture. As someone who always, always, always reaches for the product that promises texture above everything else, I was looking forward to putting this through its paces.
I really hate texturisers that make hair feel as if it’s full of sticky product, so even if it manages to add lots of tousled texture, I’ll still avoid it because I like hair to look and feel clean. If you’re like me in that regard, you’ll like the Aveda Texture Tonic as it really does leave hair feeling like it has nothing in it, whilst still providing a big hit of volumising texture that looks really natural. I’m very lazy with styling, so the less I can get away with doing, the better, so I use this tonic by waiting until hair is a little bit dry, then giving it a good spray (maybe 5-8 pumps) all over the hair, whilst concentrating more on the lengths. I use my hands to scrunch up the ends a little, then I either dry as normal, or just leave it to dry normally; the former resulting a little more lift and bounce, the latter allowing for a gentle, tousled look. It does have quite a strong scent, but presumably that’s a result of the 94% naturally derived ingredients, and it isn’t so strong that it’ll interfere too much with any perfume. Ever since first use I’ve reached for the Aveda Texture Tonic after almost every wash, so I definitely recommend it for natural, soft texture and volume with as little effort as possible. It’s £21 here – link.
